Robert Lynn Aspirin

June 5, 2008 – 14:42

Some of my fondest memories growing up were generated by reading sci-fi and fantasy novels.  The Thieves World series of books were and are at the top of my list of favorites, too.  So I learned a few weeks back that Bob Aspirin had passed away, and it felt like I had lost a friend, even though I had only briefly met the man at a convention a long time ago.

I have all of that series of books in paperback, and most are dog eared from much reading.
I’ve noticed the buzz on Usenet about his books now and I think it’s a shame that so many people just discovered him after the publicity of his death.

Rest in Peace Bob.

For reference I named my IRC bot Skeeve.

  2. For some reason, I never ran across the Thieves World books, but I liked the Myth series, and I just read Phule’s Company for the first time. Good stuff, with great humor.
