XP Just Won’t DIE!
December 22, 2008 – 17:29I read on Engadget today that Ballmer and the Redmond gang are going to extend the end of life date for XP until May 30th, of 2009. Netbooks can still get XP till June of 2010.
I don’t get it. XP is old news. I have customers every day ask about it’s availability on new machines. I have even put it on a couple of really nice modern high horsepower custom builds for people.
I don’t see a reason for it to continue.
I have Vista on several machines. This on in particular has Vista Ultimate 64, my table pc has Vista Ultimate 32. My dad’s notebook has Vista Business.
I’ve been using Vista since the early beta. (Unlike most so called “testers” I actually submitted feedback. I hear that makes me a minority.)
I’ve had some problems with it, but most of the Luddites screaming about XP today weren’t around to scream about XP when it came out. It sucked, I had more trouble with it then I did with Vista. (My tech support people hated it with a passion at that point, also.)
Let it go, people. I can understand low powered netbooks needing it, but really, it’s time to stop. I think that most people just bash Vista for the same reason they like Apple and ride Harleys. Keep drinking the Cool-aid. Vista IS better, unless you have old and slow hardware. Then maybe upgrading your p3 600 with 128 meg of ram with Vista might not make a lot of sense.
Honestly, I’m getting tired of this debate.

One Response to “XP Just Won’t DIE!”
I haven’t used Vista, but every version of Windows I’ve used has been an improvement over the last one.
Which makes you realize just how horrible 3.1 really was.
